STEWARDSHIP MINISTRY
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:21)
It is with great joy and hope that Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Norwich, CT announces The Stewardship Ministry Program. Christian Stewardship is an essential part of living a Christ centered life. We express our gratitude to those families who have contributed their time, talent, and treasure to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Norwich throughout the years. Your continued support allows our family to shine Christ’s light to the world through our liturgical life and various ministries.
Orthodox Christian Stewardship is a way of life, which acknowledges accountability, reverence, and responsibility before God. A primary goal of Stewardship is to promote spiritual growth and strengthen faith. Becoming a Steward begins when we believe in God, to whom we give our love, loyalty and trust and act on those beliefs. As Stewards, we affirm that every aspect of our lives comes as a gift from Him. Stewardship calls on the faithful to cheerfully offer back to God a portion of the gifts with which they have been blessed. These gifts are for the benefit of others and ultimately for the glory of God, the Giver of all good things. An Orthodox Christian Steward has an open hand to receive from God and an active hand to give to God.
You must not think of giving alms to the poor as an expense but as a source of income. It is not an outlay of money, but it is a profitable business. For you get back more than you give. You give bread and get back eternal life. You give a coat and get back a garment of immortality. You give your house to be shared, and you receive back a heavenly Kingdom.
(+St. John Chrysostom)
As we begin the new year, we are all called to make our commitment to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Norwich by carefully reviewing our personal circumstances and making a commitment of time, talent, and treasure to support the Parish and Her Ministries. Our commitment to the Parish supports the National Ministries of our Archdiocese, our Metropolises, our institutions and of course our family and local community here in Norwich.
As we review the stewardship commitment forms, we will see that there are many different ministries included that may appeal to each of us. We have many new ministries that will enable us to participate in giving access to the “fount of water springing up to eternal life.” Please review the ministries and consider participating in them, and if you do not see a ministry that you feel is important, please suggest it. For our financial contributions, which support all our ministries, please see the various payment methods available and select the most convenient for you. Let us all bring our Stewardship Commitments on Stewardship Sunday this year, honoring the Lord with our resources and renewing our commitment to Christ and His Church.
In Christ,
Father Demetrios Panteloukas
Presiding Priest
Dr. John Grossomanides
Stewardship Chairman
